For most of us college means leaving home with reluctance and stepping in a completely new world which demands self dependency the most . Whether it is a hostel or a pg , the first thing one has to deal with is ” getting work done without all time helper – Mother” . Here is a list of a few differences between the two-

1. Curfew timing

This is what everyone staying in PG brags- about being free to roam around even at night  while hostellers , are always in a rush to meet up the timings.

But that is what makes hostellers excel in time management.

2 . Home visits

Residing in a pg ?Feel like going home ? Just grab  your bag and leave!

Hosteller ? Well first ask your warden  , bear her mood swings and then wait for the decision to arrive .If  lucky , yes .

3.  Dress Codes

Very often in college corridors , girls and boys roam in “pyjamas” with tee ,yes, they are hostellers. Waking up 5 minutes before class and still managing to turn up for the class on time!

While , those who come all the way from pg by rickshaw or auto or metro, all well dressed ( exceptions are always there) reaching class ten minutes late .

4. WE the HOSTELLERS

People from hostel have an unique domination in college – elections – hostellers, studies- hostellers, fest organisers- hostellers and on hit list of teachers- Hostellers !

5. Night out

Hostellers always crave for night out and they plan for it  while those in pg take it very  casually  whenever they feel like .

6 .Special bonding

Hostellers do have a special bonding like family as they celebrate many events and festivals together- freshers, hostel night(most  amazing thing others envy about), farewell, diwali, holi , lorhi and the list goes on .

7. Food

While PG people have the full access to food which is just a few steps away from their pgs , hostellers are known as “BHUKKAD” for they are always in need of “ghar ka khana “and “bahar ka khana”

except” hostel ka khana”

8. Socials

Last but not the least, one thing that hostellers brag about and make pg people jealous of is – “Social night” organised by boys hostel for girls of another hostel!

Thus , both pg and hostel have their own specialties  , namely freedom  and happy restrictions, respectively . Both of them provide us with an amazing  experience.
